Pepper Chicken (Kerala Style)
Ingredients:
- Chicken - 3/4 kg
- Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
- Onion sliced - 1 cup
- Crushed black pepper - 2 tsp
- Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder - 1 tsp
- Garam masala - 1 tsp
- Curry leaves - 1 spring
- Lemon juice - 1/2 tsp
- Salt - to taste
- Coconut oil - as needed
- Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Salt - as needed
- Lemon juice - 1/2 tsp
- Wash well and cut the chicken into medium size pieces.Marinate with the ingredients mentioned above for 1 hour.
- Heat oil in a non stick or heavy bottomed pan. Add sliced onion, curry leaves saute for 2 minutes.
- Next add ginger garlic paste. Mix well and saute again for 5-6 minutes.
- Add in chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and garam masala. Fry for few seconds.
- Add the marinated chicken pieces. Mix well, cover and cook in low flame for 5 minutes.
- Add 1.5 cups of water , cover again cook in medium flame for about 20 minutes .Stir in between.
- When the gravy reaches a semi thick consistency, add the crushed pepper .Open the lid and dry roast till the chicken gets brownish.
- Finally add lemon juice and few more curry leaves.Mix well and serve.
