Butter Chicken

Ingredients:

For marination:
  1. Boneless chicken - 1/2 kg
  2. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  3. Kashmiri chilli powder - 1 tsp
  4. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  5. Yogurt - 1/4 cup
  6. Salt - as needed
Oil- for shallow frying

For masala:
  1. Chopped onions - 2 nos
  2. Chopped tomatoes - 2 nos
  3. Butter - 2 tbsp
  4. Chopped ginger - 1 tsp
  5. Chopped garlic - 1 tsp
  6. Cinnamon - 1 inch stick
  7. Cloves - 2 nos
  8. Cardamom - 2 nos
  9. Kashmiri chilli powder - 2 tsp
  10. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  11. Coriander powder - 1  tsp
  12. Garam masala - 1 tsp
  13. Cream - 1/4 cup
  14. Kasuri methi - 1 tsp
  15. Coriander leaves - to garnish
Preparation:
  • Wash well and clean the chicken.Cut it into small pieces.
  • In a bowl, mix the chicken pieces with the listed marination ingredients. set aside for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Take a non stick pan and heat oil. Shallow fry the chicken pieces and set it aside.
  • Now, for the masala, take another pan and heat the butter.Add the cinnamon stick, cardamom and cloves.Saute for few seconds.
  • Add chopped ginger, garlic, onions and saute till the onions turn golden brown.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and cook for few minutes.
  • Next add chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and garam masala. Mix everything well .Switch off the stove.
  • Cool the mixture and grind it to a paste.
  • Transfer this paste to the pan and saute for some time.
  • Add enough water and let it boil.
  • To this add the chicken pieces and cook for 15 -20 minutes in medium flame.
  • Once the chicken is cooked, add in the cream and crushed kasuri methi.
  • Simmer for few more minutes.
  • Switch off the flame.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve!!!
